Howard Wolvington

Howard Wolvington is a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and Professional Pilot based in the Seattle, Washington area. In August of 2014 he was recognized as the 2014 National CFI of the Year by the FAA Administrator, Michael Heurta and was selected as a DPE that year.

Howard holds the FAA ATP airplane multiengine land certificate with Commercial privileges in airplane single engine land and sea. He holds a Gold Seal Flight Instructor certificate for airplane single and multiengine and instrument airplane, and a Ground Instructor certificate with Advanced Instrument. He maintained the Cirrus Standardized Instructor Program (CSIP) designation from Cirrus Aircraft for more than 10 years, has 18,000 hours of flight experience, and has given more than 13,000 hours of flight instruction, and has conducted more than 1,000 FAA Practical Tests.

Howard is an expert in Technically Advanced Aircraft training including the Avidyne PFD/MFD, Aspen PFD, Garmin G1000, G500/G600, GTN750, GTN650, GNS530, GNS430, and GNS480 avionics; EDM/JPI engine monitors; TAS, Mode-S and ADS-B traffic systems; and S-Tec (Cobham/Genesis Aerosystems), Bendix/King and Garmin autopilots. Howard has provided instruction at all levels from student pilots with no prior experience to major airline Captains and Executives that want to fly General Aviation airplanes. His clients have successfully passed their practical exams for more than 100 certificates and ratings.

In addition to flight training, Howard has served as a Corporate Pilot for a number of clients, and he has provided his expertise to purchase, maintain, upgrade, and sell their aircraft. He has flown those clients and their customers on business and pleasure flights in the USA and Internationally.

Howard has documented a number of cross country trips taken in his personal airplane and in client aircraft, and has given a number of presentations as a FAA Safety Team Representative, including a seminar on ADS-B at the 2014 thru 2016 Flying Aviation Expos in Palm Springs, CA, and has been a speaker at the 2015 thru 2019 Northwest Aviation Conference and Trade Shows.
